Top Story This is a light installation in which classical sculptural elements play a role, whilst on the other hand it is charged with a razor sharp political content. The attic staircase is usually the only staircase in a building that leads to a space under one roof. In this case, the by a blue glow illuminated roof forms a metaphor for Europe and the deconstructed star of the European flag, illuminated by yellow light, inserted in perspex plates in between the steps, forms a critical note in this sculpture that finds itself loaded with the most extensive emotions. (play in politics) It demands effort to climb the stairs. In general flags represent the idea of unity and territory, yet in my work, the staircase forms a reflection of a frozen desire and the feeling of a forced movement between different worlds.
